Train_man and [Hermess] met on a express train, because nerdy train_man saves the day of [hermess]. At least that is what happens in volume 1 of this series. In this volume 2 the romance continues. Train_man went from nerdy otaku to a not so nerdy lovesick young man. They go on their first dates this time and of course the complete internet community at 2channel where train_man first went to support and help have their own opinions about to handle everything.
Art wants to create a book about World War II and his best resource is his father. He and his wife, Art’s mother, have lived through the complete war, through the beginning where the Jews got less priveleges, to towns with Jews driven together, to Auschwitz. So Art visits his sick father every week and wants to hear every story his father has to tell about his family and their friends.
Just like in Me talk pretty one day Sedaris has bundled some of his (family) stories. Every aspect of family (life), discovering yourself and the ones around you, knowing how to handle your parents and siblings, is being investigated and written down in a hilarious, original and readable way.

Just like in his book Midnight in the garden of good and evil John Berendt gives us an impression of a city and its population. This time he picked Venice.
In 1996 the Fenice, opera house of Venice, is burnt to the ground. Berendt hears of this and sets his sails to Italy. In Venice he speaks with people who heard and saw the Fenice in flames and he is very intruiged with their stories. Who set the Fenice on fire and why does it take almost ten years to get the opera house built again?
This book contains of short chapters, each telling us a situation or an episode out of Sedaris’ life. Well, you may expect this book autobiographical, because he uses his real name for his character and he tells his stories in such a way, he must have lived them. The episodes are not told chronological but in a way the brain works with memories; then this one jumps up, then another one, totally random. One chapter you learn about how David in his twenties is a cool artist with his own exhibitions, the next chapter David is telling about all the dogs they had at home when he was a child.
A play about the Salem witch-hunt of 1692. We get to see what happens in communal hysteria when the daughter of reverend Parris comes back from dancing in the woods very ill. It is said that she and the other girls were met by the devil. After that everybody is accusing everybody for having something to do with the devil and witchcraft, all for different reasons. One for example is Rebecca Nurse who is a midwife and has delivered only dead babies at a family. Reason: she must be in contact with the devil.
All the accused have two options: confess, be released and return to God or not confess, keep your dignity and own truth and be hanged.
If you are not a big fan of nonfiction – like me – don’t be alarmed by the genre description. It reads like fiction: thriller, drama, wit, you’ll get all and at very high quality at that. You will read like there is no tomorrow. It is a great book!
