A nameless protagonist works at The Scheme. All day he drives an UniVan from one depot to another. What is in the UniVans? Spare parts for the UniVans. So in the complete economical scale of things, this scheme doesn’t really contribute, but it aims to be the solution for full employment. With very strict rules everybody that works there is happy. But what happens when the workers start to doubt each others workmanship?
An unnamed employee of a fencing company is being made foreman and has the responsibility over two other fence builders, Tam and Richie. The three of them have to redo a high-tension fencing job in England (they’re from Scotland) and go on their way in the company caravan. While working on that job an accident happens that is only the beginning of some very strange situations these men get themselves into.
A man on his own in a little selfmade tin house in the middle of nowhere. He is content with his life far away from people and therefore trouble. He has his own daily schedule of shuffling the sand (that every night by wind clusters against his house) away from his door, his long walk in circles and doing nothing. Then a woman appears on his doorstep. He is, as expected, not happy with this event. And if that is not enough, after a little time, also his three “neighbours” from the other tin houses around there somewhere are coming regurarly to drink a cup of tea with him and, of course, the lady. When he finally has coped with this new lifestyle, that he kind of got to like even, yet another situation drags him somewhere he doesn’t want to go and be.
