literary vacation preview

Hooray.…my vacation is a few days away and not a moment too soon.
As of Sunday I will be making the British roads and camping sites unsafe with my presence.

sallyFirst order of (monkey) business: doing my adoptive parent thing and visit Sally. I’m her parent now for four years, but I’ve never seen her in real life. Finally it’s happening!

After being a few days on the South coast I’m heading up to Wales, but not without visiting Bath. Here is where the literary part of the vacation begins. Most of Jane Austen’s Northanger Abbey takes place in Bath and I’m determined to follow in the footsteps of Catherine Morland, the main character. Jane Austen herself lived in Bath a short while and I’m looking forward to visiting the centre.
Then, having arrived in Wales, I’m going to visit Hay-on-Wye (Welsh: Y Gelli), a little town with a population of 1500, but with approximately thirty (yes people…30!) major bookshops. That’s paradise for ya! I hope I will not be coming back with a whole new library.

After those days in heaven, I’m not sure what I will do and see next, that part of the vacation is not planned yet. But who cares anyway, the little literary nerd inside of me whispers to me.

So, that was the preview of my vacation and I hope I have the time and I’m not to lazy to update my adventures during the trip.

Now I’m going to have a cup of tea!

All the (following) posts can be read together on the page Literary vacation.
