Eric is trying to summon a demon to get his three wishes granted. One day he succeeds, he has a demon in his little bedroom. Well, he thinks he has a demon, but actually he summoned Discworld’s wizard Rincewind and Eric gets more than what he bargained for.
Together they begin an adventure, and history lesson, through time, space and nothingness that will take them (literaly) to hell and back.

Another book in the Discworld series created by Pratchett. Very funny and light as his other books I already read. This certainly isn’t the last book I will read in the series.

Every question asked here is being answered in this epic tale about the world as we know it…or knew it…or…or.
Gaiman and Pratchett have made a story that is hilariously funny, but have you turning in your sleep at the same time.
Hooray for them!!

On Discworld live three witches, Granny, Nanny and Margrat. One day a baby is thrown into their laps and it happens that it is the son of the dead king. The king, murdered by the Duke, who wants to be ruler. Well, the Duchess want to be ruler actually: behind every good man, stands a better woman. Anyway, the witches decide to get the baby adopted by an actor and his wife, so he stays out of trouble until he is ready to rule as the new king. When everything goes awry with the Duke (the idea to burn down the whole forest amongst other things), the witches decide to speed up time about fifteen years. But is that the right decision?

This is the play, written by Stephen Briggs, of the book by Pratchett. And if the above description seems familiar, well, the story is an adaptation of the well known story of Macbeth by the even better known bard Shakespeare. Great fun to read it, it has wit, speed and action, nothing to difficult. So if you have a few hours to spare, read this play.

There is a flat world, supported on a giant turtle and four big elephants. On this world, Discworld, are living various strange creatures; magicians, trolls, wizards among many others. One of the wizards is Rincewind and he has a mission. He has to keep another wizard, the tourist Twoflower, under control in his quest to see everything there is on Discworld. Easier said than done Rincewind dicovers during their trip across all the strange cities, mountains and trees. To make things worse for Rincewind, Death has decided to make the wizard his hobby. Will Rincewind survive it all?

The first of many, many books in the Discworld series and it was my first experience, way overdue if I should believe some of my colleagues, with Discworld and Pratchett’s books for that matter. What I found quite difficult was the high density of information and consequently images. I had a hard time making my own Discworld with the different characters living there. But sure, I’m going to try again soon, the book was funny and interesting enough to make me curious for the sequel and following books.

Gabriel is a data thief. Together with his friend he hacks computers, security systems etc. to get the information he needs for his multiple employers. He is happy with who he is and what he does. And then a certain man named mr. Whittington contacts him with a question: would Gabriel be interested in finding his son, who disappeared some time ago. Gabriel is puzzled why Whittington should come to him, but after he learns his former girlfriend Frankie is the wife of Whittington, and therefor he knows something about Gabriel, a secret ability, that would be helpful in this case, Gabriel reluctantly agrees to look into it. His path leads to two beautiful sisters with unknown powers and that is the start of a very intriguing and thrilling journey.

Although I’m not a big fan of the erotic and magic genre, this book was compelling enough to keep me reading with enthusiasm. The story has some kind of rhythm, pace and drive that got me hooked from beginning to end. Fortunately (for me) the erotic side wasn’t always present, but was dosed in good proportions and the esoteric stuff was worked out properly and with depth and accuracy, which made it believable, even for a rational person, that I am. So, if you’re looking for a thriller with a twist, this book is one you should read.

This is the fifth book in the famous and by now classic story of Harry Potter the teenage wizard. “He-who-must-not-be-named” is back now for only a little while and the world already isn’t the same anymore. People fight a lot, Hogwarts is taken over by the Ministry of Magic (which is not a good thing), Harry Potter is being portrayed as a liar and last but not least “the order of the Phoenix” is being formed again after almost 16 years. So much for a quiet year.

I read all the other four books before reading this one and after being totally impressed by book 3 (Harry Potter and the prisoner of Azkaban) and 4 (Harry Potter and the goblet of fire) I had high expectations for this one.I have to say, I was a bit disappointed. I couldn’t find the depth of book 3 and the suspense of book 4. Nontheless, the book is entertaining enough to keep you reading, although I think it is just 200 pages too long.
